Course Description

Students selected for the Water to Work internship will take part in a one year, paid, learn-and-earn style program designed to lead towards a rewarding career in water treatment. Students will actively participate in roughly 1,200 hours of on-the-job training with a municipal employer (City of Grand Rapids, City of Wyoming, Plainfield Charter Township, or Holland Board of Public Works) along with nearly 600 hours of coursework to ultimately work towards their Water Technology Certificate from our educational partner, Bay College.

Upon completing the program, students will have the necessary competencies, work experience, and educational experience needed to test for their F-4 Municipal Drinking Water Operator's License or D Municipal Wastewater Operator's License through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
